What Is The HCG Medical Diet?

hCG stands for Human Choriogonadotropin, the hormone produced by pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy. Research suggests a small, daily hCG  injection (approx. 125 IU to 200 IU) results in a weight loss of 1 to 3 lbs per day. The hCG diet is a weight loss protocol that has helped thousands of overweight people to lose significant weight. A 500 calorie a day diet also known as the VLCD (very low calorie diet), is combined with a minimal intake of hCG,  the natural hormone that is created in laboratories which raises the body’s rate of metabolism while using stored fat for energy.  The result is significant loss of fat in a very short time. The hcg weight loss protocol was designed by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons in the 1950’s.  The original weight loss protocol can be found in his manuscript, “Pounds and Inches.”  Kevin Trudeau also has recently come out with a book explaining a new, more modern approach to the protocol, “The Weight Loss Cure.”

hCG weightloss shots have not been approved for weight loss by the FDA.
